Apple has announced its biggest-ever investment commitment. It plans to invest and spend over $500 billion in the U.S. over the next four years. This latest commitment will build on Apple’s decades-long tradition of investing in American technology and high-tech manufacturing. Apple will support many initiatives focused on artificial intelligence, silicon engineering, and the development of skills for workers and students worldwide.

“We are bullish on the future of American innovation, and we’re proud to build on our long-standing U.S. investments with this $500 billion commitment to our country’s future,” stated Tim Cook, Apple’s CEO. “From the doubling of the size of our Advanced Manufacturing Fund to creating the latest technology in Texas We’re delighted to continue our support of American manufacturing. We’ll continue working with businesses and people across the country to write a remarkable chapter in the story of American technology.”

In this round which includes U.S. investments, Apple along with its partners will launch an advanced manufacturing facility in Houston to manufacture servers that can support Apple Intelligence, the personal intelligence system that enables users to write, communicate and accomplish their goals. Apple will also expand its U.S. Advanced Manufacturing Fund create an Academy in Michigan to help train the future generations of U.S. manufacturers, and expand its research-and-development investment across the U.S. to support cutting-edge areas such as silicon engineering.

The $500 billion commitment covers Apple’s collaboration together with a myriad of partners across 50 US states. The commitment also covers direct jobs, Apple Intelligence infrastructure and data centres, corporate facilities and Apple TVplus productions across 20 states. Apple is still one of the biggest U.S. taxpayers, having greater than 75 billion dollars in U.S. taxes over the last five years, with $19 billion in 2024 alone.

At present, Apple supports approximately 2.9 million jobs in the United States by providing direct employment, working with U.S.-based manufacturers and suppliers as well as developer positions in the flourishing iOS apps economy.

Opening a New Manufacturing Facility in Houston

As part of its recent U.S. investments, Apple will collaborate with its manufacturing partners to begin the production of servers in Houston at the end of this year. A server manufacturing plant of 250,000 square feet set to begin operations in 2026, is expected to create many jobs.

The servers were previously manufactured outside manufacturing outside of the U.S., the servers which are scheduled to be built in Houston will play an important role in enabling Apple Intelligence and are the core for Private Cloud Compute that blends powerful AI processing and the most sophisticated security architecture ever used at scale to support AI cloud computing. These servers are the culmination of decades of research and development conducted by Apple engineers, and provide the highest level of efficiency and protection that comes from Apple technology to data centers.

The teams at Apple created their servers to make them highly energy efficient, thus reducing the energy requirements from Apple data centers, that are already running on 100% renewable energy. As Apple provides Apple Intelligence to customers across the U.S., it also plans to expand the capacity of data centres across North Carolina, Iowa, Oregon, Arizona, and Nevada.

Doubling Apple’s U.S. Advanced Manufacturing Fund

In this latest funding, Apple is doubling its U.S. Advanced Manufacturing Fund which was established in 2017 to support top-of-the-line innovation and highly skilled manufacturing jobs throughout America. The increase in commitment will boost the value of the fund between $5 and $10 billion and will focus on supporting advanced manufacturing and skill development across the United States.

The expansion of the fund comes with an investment of multibillion dollars from Apple to make high-end silicon at the TSMC Fab 21 facility in Arizona. Apple is the biggest customer of this modern facility which employs more than 200 workers to produce silicon within the United States. Production of mass quantities of Apple chips started last month.

Silicon utilized by Apple is designed to offer Apple users an array of capabilities as well as performance and effectiveness across all their devices. Apple’s suppliers have already produced silicon in 24 facilities in 12 states, including Arizona, Colorado, Oregon and Utah. Apple’s investments into the sector are helping to create thousands of highly-paying jobs throughout the United States with U.S. companies such as Broadcom, Texas Instruments, Skyworks and Qorvo.
